What dreamers do...
Have you felt like the entire world was against you? Maybe you feel inadequate for some reason. Reasons you have heard before could be that you are too young, too stupid, you aren’t worth anything, you’ll never amount to much, you are never going to make it—basically, anything else that has caused that dream to fade away or burn out. Sometimes you hear it so much that you begin believing it yourself.
Well I’m here to tell you to STOP IT. STOP IT NOW!!!! You are so much more than another person’s opinion of you! So, then you come back with the line that you are sure it’s true because someone you love said it. Wait, what? That is not cool, my friend! And if you are one of the naysayers to another person’s dream, I will say the same message: STOP IT. STOP IT NOW!
People, even you--even me, need to be celebrated, motivated, encouraged and loved. It is up to each and every one of us to help others find their passion, find what motivates them to do great things, and to never stop dreaming.
I want to help others reach their goals and dreams, too. I believe it is that important! As a fifth-grade teacher, these are some of the things I hear on a daily basis. My parents told me I couldn’t do that because I wasn’t smart enough. My dad told me that I was never going to be good enough, so he just left. Since my foster parents think I’m too mean, I am going to be sent back again. My teachers don’t care about me, no one does. Not to mention all the things that kids say to other kids. They are brutal! Some of the things that I hear are harsh enough to bring a giant to his knees, and I just think “Are you kidding me right now?” Words can cut to the bone and the damage is done, permanently. Imagine how they are going to feel in their adult lives if that trend continues!
With that being said, I try to really help my students uncover their dreams and find what motivates them. I encourage them to make goals and never give up because they are special. I tell my students that I love them. They still don’t believe it. Overall, they have had such tragedies, disappointing lives, and cruel words said to them that it has become a part of them. So, one day I had to break out the big guns. I even told them that I love them more than I love Diet Coke! I think it started to sink in because Diet Coke is life, and my kiddos know it. That is where the idea for the Paws-itive Passion Project was born. Kids need a hero, a champion, and someone that believes in them. Period. no strings attached. No conditions or expectations. They need someone to stand behind them and push them into the things that are going to help them achieve those dreams. The things that will be life-changers for them. Help me reach them by making a short video that tells what motivates you and helps drive your passion to reach your goals. Step out of your comfort zone. Compliment yourself and celebrate you! Just as Dolly said--”Sometimes you just have to honk your own horn...!!! Send videos to me via messenger, or email to teacherlifegypsyvibe@hotmail.com. I am so excited about this project and can’t wait to see how it impacts my students! Thanks in advance.
